They’ve been making film versions of Yasunari Kawabata’s 1926 story The Izu Dancer since the Thirties, but the yellow costume that’s now standard uniform for Izu Dancer tour guides wasn’t part of the earlier productions and might actually come from the 1986 anime. Source.
