Robert Bruce Aeneas Macleod, 3rd Macleod of Cadboll, was MP for Cromartyshire from 1807 to 1812, and Lord Lieutenant of Cromarty from 1794 to 1833. While an undergrad at Glasgow University his trustees bought him Invergordon Castle, formerly held by the Gordons. The Invergordon Museum has Robert’s bust and that of his son Roderick, and is currently in a tussle for Edmé Bouchardon’s bust of Sir John Gordon. Source.
Invergordon is situated north of Inverness on Cromarty Firth, a harbour long favoured by the Royal Navy and the site of the Invergordon Mutiny of 1931. Invergordon FC has been around since the 19th Century. They earned promotion from the North Caledonian League to the Highland League this year.
