*Once the Championship League Cup finalists are known, the other eight clubs embark on the Consolation Cup. I’ve run this cup for four years so far and never once had a winner, because there are never enough fixtures left in the season to get to the final. This year I’m making a format change to try to speed things up. Instead of pairing up the teams according to their places in last season’s standings, I’ll choose the set of four fixtures that can be completed the soonest, barring postponements. One of those is today [but it’s postponed] and the other three are on February 28th.

Scottish Challenge Cup, QF (February 10):
St Johnstone vs Ayr United (postponed)
